Neurofeedback
The brain in the mirror
Strengthening self-regulation – reducing sensory overload
Neurofeedback is a modern, computer-assisted training in which the brain learns to regulate itself better. What achieves breakthrough results in the treatment of autism and NDD is also long since used by elite athletes, pilots, and top managers to stay focused and calm under stress (peak performance).
A great advantage in practice: children usually love it, since they are often allowed to watch their favourite film during the training and feel "clearer-headed" afterwards.
How does it work?
The training is completely painless and non-invasive. Sensors on the scalp measure brain activity and reflect it in real time on a monitor. The brain essentially watches itself at work and, through this direct feedback, learns to shift into a stable and efficient state.
Recommended paths to success
The Othmer method (ILF): deep relaxation without effort
This is our preferred method for autism and developmental delays. The great advantage: the person does not need to actively contribute or understand anything. The brain learns unconsciously while watching a film or listening to music. It is particularly gentle and effective in reducing sensory overload, sleep disturbances, and emotional outbursts.
SCP training (active training for focus)
Alongside the ILF method, SCP training is also recommended for ADD/ADHD or more cognitively able individuals. Here, active participation is required! One learns to consciously control their brain states, which sustainably strengthens impulse control and attention management.
What does neurofeedback do for autism and NDD?
- Supporting language and communication: By calming the nervous system, the brain becomes more receptive. Many parents report clear progress in language comprehension and active language development.
- Calming the nervous system: Reduction of anxiety, stress, and inner restlessness.
- Filtering sensory input: The brain learns to better block out unimportant stimuli.
- Better sleep and emotional stability: Makes it easier to switch into "rest mode" and makes reactions to change more flexible.
Outlook: Soon, thanks to specialised further training undertaken by the foundation's founder, it will be possible to hold a trial session to get to know the method in person.
